I just finished my first Chicken Coop, which I made about 2 weeks ago, and I am now ready to go buy my Chickens. In total I spent about 100 Dollars and I have the perfect Hen House. Scrap wood from old gates, leftover hardware, paint, and wood from house projects, and lot of scraps and hardware from the backyard. I also bought the Building a Chicken Coop guide, which I would have been totally lost without. There is no better book -anywhere. Trust me, I bought 6 of them.

The most important facts I learned are -
1.Adequate floor space per bird.
2. Dry with good ventilation.
3. Temperature control.
4. Predator protection.
5. Keep it clean + fresh water/food .

If you want to learn more then I Suggest you buy the book. It will save you 100's on stuff you don't need and make the important aspects of a Chicken Coop shine through. Anyway, I'm off, must decide on what breed of Chicken I will purchase. No more supermarket eggs for me.
